Halesworth Volunteer Centre - Registered Charity No. 1001776

May 2021

We are working alongside St Elizabeth Hospice, The Pear Tree Centre and other local organisations and individuals to ensure that Halesworth is a Compassionate Community.  Dying Matters awareness week is 10th - 16th May - this is held each year to encourage conversations in communities around death, dying, grief and caring.  Have a read of the Compassionate Communities May Newsletter to find out about events happening next week

Halesworth Volunteer Centre has been working in Halesworth and the surrounding villages for over thirty years and has built up a wealth of local knowledge.  As a small organisation we are flexible enough to adapt as the needs of the community change; we respond to individual requests for help and work closely with other local organisations and statutory bodies to deliver our objectives.

If you would like to use any of our volunteer operated services then please contact us or drop into our office in London Road. From the office, we operate a community car service and befriending  services. We can also put you in touch with other volunteering organisations in the local area who can help in other ways.

If you are interested in volunteering and have a few hours to spare, we would be delighted to hear from you. We also provide a volunteering brokerage service for local community groups and projects.

If you are interested in recruiting volunteers, then we can help your organisation to recruit volunteers through our quarterly newsletter, website and  Resource Centre. We can conduct initial interviews with prospective volunteers to ensure they are matched to a suitable placement.

ISOLATION BUSTERS

Our new  Isolation Busters project is here!  This has been made possible by a grant from the Postcode Community Trust, a grant-giving charity funded entirely by the players of the People’s Postcode Lottery.  If you can no longer get out and about but would like a little bit of company, just give us a call on 01986 875600.  Our volunteers can visit you at home.  They can help you with some chores, cook a meal, do a bit of baking or just sit down for a chat and a cup of tea. If you are worried about a friend or neighbour, we can provide that little bit of extra support.

If you would like to become an Isolation Buster, just give us a calll, on 01986 875600. You can volunteer once a week or once a

month, it’s up to you.
